Job Title: Senior Manager, International Tax

Slalom is seeking an experienced and well-rounded international tax professional for our small but growing tax team. The Senior Manager of International Tax will report to the Director of Tax and will be responsible for managing the preparation of multiple international tax filings, as well as advising the business on tax risks, costs, and other considerations. This includes managing the tax aspects of intercompany transactions including intercompany agreements, transfer pricing arrangements and withholding tax implications. In addition, this position will be responsible for ensuring that tax technical and business impacts are thoroughly researched, documented, and clearly and concisely communicated to finance and business partners.  The Senior Manager of International Tax must have a breadth of knowledge in international tax requirements, as well as being familiar with accounting principles and accounting systems. 

The ideal candidate will work independently to prioritize tasks in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment. This position will provide functional advice, supervision and training to less experienced staff, working in a team setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the preparation of and review returns for multiple non-U.S. jurisdictions, including corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding, and other returns, and review the related monthly/quarterly tax accruals, tax payments, and tax account reconciliations
  • Assist with calculating quarterly and annual tax provisions for multiple jurisdictions
  • Review contracts and advise on the tax implications, including transfer pricing, VAT/GST, WHT, and PE risk
  • Assist with implementation and maintenance in international operational structuring including working with both internal and external groups.
  • Respond to government notices, and coordinate tax examinations
  • Additional duties include participating in strategic tax planning initiatives and working closely with accounting, payroll and legal groups on various projects

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax or related discipline
  • CPA, MST, JD, or equivalent education/certification is preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in tax department of a public accounting firm and/or industry
  • Minimum 4 years’ focused experience in international tax, in the areas of transfer pricing, U.S. Outbound Reporting, GST/VAT, and/or tax provision
  •  In-depth knowledge and understanding of laws and treaties relating to international tax, application, practices and procedures
  • Must be able to impact and influence business leaders by utilizing tax expertise and understanding of the business.
  • Good overall accounting knowledge – tax provision experience a plus
  •  Industry experience with professional services a plus
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to perform research and analysis to tax policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with tax research products (BNA)
  •  Strong proficiency in Excel including pivot tables and data manipulation
  •  Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  •  Ability to liaison well across departments and functions within the company
