The Software Engineering & Cloud Enablement team at Slalom believes that technology plays a meaningful role in connecting our clients to their customers and connecting their employees to one another. We're passionate about helping our clients make those connections.

We are seeking a Practice Lead to join our Boston team who thrives on helping organizations drive strategic business outcomes through his or her technology expertise. You are an ambitious and dynamic leader who will provide thought leadership to clients, establish strategic direction for the team, help drive sales, recruiting and operational efficiencies. You succeed in a client facing environment and have a consistent track record of crafting innovative solutions. You have a high degree of accountability for ensuring the over all quality execution of business and technology consulting across a breadth of expertise areas that include Technology Strategy, Digital Innovation, and Software Engineering (full stack web, mobile, cloud, DevOps, and integration).

Job Title: Software Engineering Practice Lead

Responsibilities

The Practice Leader holds accountability for the Software Engineering & Cloud Enablement team including initiatives like driving sales, attracting talent, fostering client relationships, as well as leading day to day operational activities.

  • Build a high-performing team by mentoring, supporting and guiding junior consultants, engineers & architects.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on project delivery ultimately increasing team productivity
  • Support business development efforts (for new and existing clients) by collaborating with sales and accounts teams and networking with senior client executives
  • Run engagements through effective staffing, planning, budgeting, risk identification and executive partner engagement
  • Assemble case studies and core deliverables to grow solution offerings and expand our client portfolio in Boston
  • Grow your brand by participating in industry forums, events, and speaking engagements
  • Attract top-tier talent by supporting recruiting efforts and fostering unique on-boarding experiences of new employees while also developing future leaders

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engagement-based consulting experience or equivalent software engineering industry experience
  • Demonstrated professional growth in the engineering domain, leading to a business-forward, strategic mindset
  • Validated ability to work multi-functionally across technology teams and successful history delivering complex agile software solutions
  • Experience growing new & existing client relationships through organic business development efforts
  • A love for developing junior talent and growing strong leaders through mentorship and people management
  • Experience management a consulting business to key metrics including utilization, margins and P&L
  • Experience writing and executing contracts/SOWs including billing and invoicing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to audiences of all levels
